Accommodation at The Hide

The Hide Safari Camp is located in a place that seems to have far more than its fair share of natural beauty. In a private concession but within Hwange National Park on the eastern boundary, The Hide offers an incredible diversity of wildlife and scenery. Consistently voted the “Best Tented Safari Camp” in Zimbabwe, you know your time at The Hide Safari Camp will be unforgettable.

Wake up to the first calls of robins and hornbills as the dawn light creeps in, enjoy a cup of freshly delivered coffee on your veranda and watch elephants, kudu, giraffe and zebra come down to the mist-edged waterhole. At the end of the day, soak in a soothing hot bath as the buffalo stroll silently by or enjoy an energising outdoor shower under the stars.

The Dove's Nest

The Hide Doves Nest

Our little secret, the Dove’s Nest, is just about the best way to get away from it all. There are few things more exciting than spending a night out in a tree-house. Overlooking the open tree-lined vlei and pan where giraffe and elephants commonly come to drink, this rustic gem is a perfect vantage point from which to view wildlife safely, quietly. Just the two of you.

The Main A-Frame and Facilities

Main A Frame

The hub of the camp is the signature “A” frame which houses the dining room, a downstairs sun lounge and a large comfortable lounge / viewing area upstairs. There is also plunge pool near the main lounge and dining room. The spacious lodges areas are very tastefully furnished with solid Zimbabwe Teak furniture each with individual décor.

The Camp has a landline telephone service which is available at reception if you need to contact the outside world. We also have hot water for showers and baths, a daily laundry service (weather permitting) and electricity throughout the camp.

Most meals are served in unsurpassed elegance and style, at the Main A Frame, around our magnificent 22 seater teak dining room table. Tea and cake is best enjoyed upstairs, in the A-frame, overlooking the pan. Meanwhile, breakfast can be served Alfresco, under our Acacia trees.

Along the Waterhole Hide tunnel, guests are delighted to find, hidden away in the wall, a real wine cellar. Perfectly cooled at a steady 17 degrees Celsius, ambient-lit and stocked with a small selection of fine wines from around the world, this is a welcome addition to an already all-sensory experience at The Hide. Guests are invited to choose the wine they’d like with dinner – or suggestions are made based on wine pairing experts’ recommendations.
