Accommodation at The Hide
The Hide Safari Camp is located in a place that seems to have far more than its fair share of natural beauty. In a private concession but within Hwange National Park on the eastern boundary, The Hide offers an incredible diversity of wildlife and scenery.
Wake up to the first calls of robins and hornbills as the dawn light creeps in, enjoy a cup of freshly delivered coffee on your veranda and watch elephants, kudu, giraffe and zebra come down to the mist-edged waterhole. At the end of the day, soak in a soothing hot bath as the buffalo stroll silently by or enjoy an energising outdoor shower under the stars.
Consistently voted the “Best Tented Safari Camp” in Zimbabwe, you know your time at The Hide Safari Camp will be unforgettable.

The Private Hide
As open as the vast expanse in which it is set, the Private Hide is where time stands still and ‘safari’ happens everywhere you look. With 360-degree views and the waterhole nearby, The Private Hide provides a spectacular space away from it all. Here you can quietly watch the animals and birds, dine exclusively, celebrate a special occasion, relax with cocktails, sit around the glowing fire pit… the possibilities are as endless as the vista.Find out more
The Dove's Nest
Our little secret, the Dove’s Nest, is just about the best way to get away from it all. There are few things more exciting than spending a night out in a tree-house. Overlooking the open tree-lined vlei and pan where giraffe and elephants commonly come to drink, this rustic gem is a perfect vantage point from which to view wildlife safely, quietly. Just the two of you.Find out more
The Main A-Frame and Facilities
The hub of the camp is the signature “A” frame which houses the dining room, a downstairs sun lounge and a large comfortable lounge / viewing area upstairs. There is also plunge pool near the main lounge and dining room. The spacious lodges areas are very tastefully furnished with solid Zimbabwe Teak furniture each with individual décor.
The Camp has a landline telephone service which is available at reception if you need to contact the outside world. We also have hot water for showers and baths, a daily laundry service (weather permitting) and electricity throughout the camp.
Most meals are served in unsurpassed elegance and style, at the Main A Frame, around our magnificent 22 seater teak dining room table. Tea and cake is best enjoyed upstairs, in the A-frame, overlooking the pan. Meanwhile, breakfast can be served Alfresco, under our Acacia trees.
The Wine Cellar and Waterhole Hideaway
We have always believed that our guests at The Hide are the kind of people who like to take the road less travelled. Others followed the crowd, but you went your own way, breaking the mould and listening to your heart, always searching for something better. The new Wine Cellar and Underground Hide at The Hide were planned, designed and created for the adventure-takers, the thrill-makers and the pleasure-seekers out there. Here’s why…
You’re sitting on the deck at The Hide ‘A’ frame. The sun has just set, its residual warmth a soft tinge of pink in the sky. Just then, a family of elephants strolls into the scene and up to the waterhole. You watch, fascinated by their interactions. Now, here’s where you jump into action. Without the need for a guide or host, you can go directly from the deck into the underground hide and observe the elephant family from up-close. Just step off the deck and slip down the steps into a whole new world. Along a tunnel, you’ll walk for about 10 metres under the surface of the earth – and then emerge into a “window on the waterhole”, where you can sit quietly, the unobserved observing. It’s a special new addition and makes the experience of “game viewing” more intense and personal.
Along the same tunnel, guests are delighted to find, hidden away in the wall, a real wine cellar. Perfectly cooled at a steady 17 degrees Celsius, ambient-lit and stocked with a small selection of fine wines from around the world, this is a welcome addition to an already all-sensory experience at The Hide. Guests are invited to choose the wine they’d like with dinner – or suggestions are made based on wine pairing experts’ recommendations. On the occasion of The Hide’s 25th Anniversary, we have partnered with a South African wine label to give our guests a great reason to celebrate!
